Well, the day has finally come. Oppositelock as we know it on Kinja is finally facing the axe. There have been a few close calls, but it’s for real this time. There’s a lot to be said about the community that’s grown here over the years, but before it all comes crashing down I want to talk about one specific aspect of it: the online community races in Forza Motorsport.
I joined Oppositelock way back in 2013 for the car talk and the memes. Little did I know I’d still be around seven years later and running community events in a video game series I loved (most of the time). I have enjoyed my time on Oppo overall, but this specific group of people was and will be particularly important to me. I’ve raced on Forza with many different groups before and since I started posted on Oppo, but there was never another group quite like this one. When I raced in the very first Oppo Le Mans hosted by SVTyler in 2014, I knew I stumbled upon something special.
The atmosphere was exactly what I wanted. Fun and fast. There have been changes over the years. People have come and gone. The rules and events have evolved. We have moved from game to game. We have even taken on the best of the best in the wider Forza Motorsport community. But I feel we haven’t lost that original feeling from back in 2014. That feeling of just wanting to race and shit talk the people who race the cars for real. And through that the community has evolved as well. I’ve known many of you for years now, gone to real races with yinz like the 24 Hours Of Daytona, and so much more. And I couldn’t be more thankful for that.
This is not the end, though. The races will go on! The next round of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! will be sometime soon. If you’re already familiar with these Forza events, you’ll know that we have our own Discord server, which is essentially the official server for Digital Burnouts, also here on Kinja. Though we’ve always been Oppo at heart. If you’d like to, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I and others can and will also post race threads (probably in the form of Google Docs) in the official Oppositelock discord, which has been advertised heavily as of late. The Digital Burnouts discord is mainly for the races, but we also welcome general conversation. Especially if you’re a racing fan.
And finally, I wanted to take a look back at the past seven years of racing. I’ve compiled photos and videos from every race I could find. From the very first Oppo LM test session, to the most recent round of OEC. This isn’t comprehensive though. I didn’t include every photo, and some events I couldn’t find any photos from. If you have any photos or videos of your own to add, feel free! You may also have luck finding race replays by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! which contains a list of people who record races.
DISCLAIMER: This post has a lot of photos. Like a lot. If you’re on mobile data, may want to wait for wifi before proceeding. Also some of these may be out of order from when they actually happened.

Before I say goodbye, I just want to say one more thing.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
I have way too many people to thank, so many. People who have ran events, helped me with BoP, drove me back from Daytona, or just bought me a beer. You all know who you are, and I just want to say thank you so much. It’s been an interesting time here on Oppo. It may not be the end, but it is certainly the end of an era. We shall continue on str
